Some advice for Retreat Team SEAS CIA
Don't dominate conversations--let the members of your small group speak
Awkward silence is ok. Someone in our small group will speak up eventually because silence is uncomfortable
Encourage all to share, but it's ok if they're not comfortable sharing. Reach out to them, but don't force it.
Try to get to know each person you interact with. Get a feel of where they're at and tailor your interactions with them.
If you're uncomfortable engaging retreaters on your own, bring a CIA friend to help
Use every opportunity to get to know the retreaters, even outside of small groups
You all have your own story to share. Share it when the time is appropriate.
If you are dealing with a negative retreater, make them feel valued and get to know them
If you are dealing with a loner retreater, make them feel welcome and invite them to join in
If you encounter difficulties, please see the Retreat Team Leadership!
