Registration for the 2014-2015 preparation year is now closed.
In order to receive the sacrament, all youth must be 15 years of age by January 1, 2015 and registered in and regularly attending some form of Catholic Religious Education in addition to the Confirmation preparation classes. These are two seperate programs, and will mean that for a period of time that your youth may be coming to classes on both Sundays and again on Tuedays.
So to register for confirmation:
STEP 1: Register for SNL (Catholic Religious Education here at SEAS)...or turn in
documentation if Religious Education is being done elsewhere
STEP 2: Register for Confirmation (registration for 2015-2016 will be in July)
*registration for confirmation is not complete until both steps are done
Also, all youth must have attended a full year of Catholic Religious Education the year prior to preparing for confirmation (ex. if confirmation is done in 10th grade, youth must have attended Catholic Religious Education in 9th grade). Think of this as a 2 year program, in the first year it's just Religious Education classes, however in year 2 it's both Religious Education and the Confirmation classes.
*Note, regularly attending means that youth cannot miss more than four (4) class sessions per semester.
If Religious Education is done at a Catholic High School, a certified Catholic Home school program, or in any other way that is outside of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, proper documentation must be turned in and approved.
In addition to the above requirements, confirmation candidates and/or their parents must meet the following requirements: (click each of the below for more information)
Confirmation Sponsor Form
Patron Saint Report
3-day Confirmation Retreat
Parish Life Hours
Parent Parish Life Hours
Confirmation classes will be most Tuesdays beginning Tuesday January 20, 2015 and ending Tuesday May 5, 2015. Classes are from 7pm-8:30pm. Confirmation candidates will go through these sessions in year 2 of the confirmation program. Candidates will also have to regularly attend religious education classes throughout the entire school year (September - May) in addition to these Confirmation classes.
